Very often except for the compasses that exist for shipping and the ship’s handling, independent compasses also exist either small or larger ones, or repeater compasses in various compartments so that the general audit of the course of the ship is made possible from other positions as well such as the captain’s room or the engine room. This is one such autonomous magnetic compass. Such type of compasses do not provide accurate indications since their purpose is just to witness the general course of the ship.
