The Nautical Collection of P. C. Laskaridis

The nautical collection of Panagiotis C. Laskaridis is one of the most important in Greece. The collection was assembled from the mid-1980s onwards, and today numbers 282 items, the oldest of which is a cannon a small calibre breech-loading 'Pedero a Braga' cannon from the Spanish Armada during the campaign against England in 1588. Of particular interest is the collection of scrimshaws (crafted whale bones and teeth or other mammals), one of the richest in the world, which counts around 130 unique items.
